A student of Jack Brainard, Clint Haverty of Krum, Texas began competing professionally in NRHA Open in 1981 and became a consistent Futurity finalist and top-ten money earner. He's best known for training and riding the legendary paint stallion Gunner (Colonels Smoking Gun) to the 1996 NRHA Open Futurity Reserve Championship — a performance that made Gunner the most talked-about horse in the sport and launched the stallion on his path to becoming the NRHA's all-time leading sire. Haverty is also known for extraordinary generosity to fellow reiners in need.
