Doug Carpenter
Horseman · FEI Champion · Futurity Purse Architect · Inducted 2021 (Posthumous)
Doug Carpenter — "Carp" to everyone who knew him — was born in Rhode Island and hitchhiked to Columbus at age 13 just to attend the All American Quarter Horse Congress. That love of horses drove a career touching every corner of the western performance world: competitor, horse trader, promoter, board member, and philanthropist. He was instrumental in helping reining gain FEI recognition and co-led the task force that raised the NRHA Futurity purse to $250,000 in 2020. He passed away just before that historic event.
