American Quarter Horse Association
Institutional Inductee · Reining's Breed Backbone · Inducted 2008
The American Quarter Horse Association is the only non-individual entity inducted into the NRHA Hall of Fame — a testament to the foundational role the AQHA played in the development of reining as a formal discipline. As the world's largest horse breed registry and one of the oldest performance horse organizations, AQHA provided the infrastructure, rules, judging framework, and major events (including the All American Quarter Horse Congress) that gave early reining its platform before the NRHA existed. The two organizations have maintained a close partnership throughout reining's rise to global prominence.
